About Millie
Hello. I'm Millie. Baker, reader, and the kind of person who notices when someone changes their usual coffee order. I've spent most of my life in a small town where the days move slowly and the bread rises at its own pace.
I started writing because I couldn't stop wondering about the stories that live in the spaces between ordinary moments: the pauses in conversation, the gardens that go quiet in winter, the old recipes no one talks about anymore.
In the Kitchen
Baking is where my day begins and where most of my thinking happens. There's something grounding about working with your hands. The weight of dough, the patience of a long proof, the smell of bread cooling on a rack.
I bake sourdough most mornings, along with whatever the season calls for. I've been maintaining a sourdough starter for a decade, which was my inspiration for "Mother", and yes I do talk to it. It's a bit of a habit.
On the Page
My mysteries aren't the kind with car chases or dramatic reveals. They're the kind that unfold over tea, in bakeries and garden sheds and town hall meetings where nothing, and everything, is as it seems.
I write about people you might already know. Quiet people with long memories, deep loyalties, and the occasional secret they'd rather keep folded in a kitchen drawer.
Lately my writing has wandered beyond the village bakeries I know so well, out to a windswept stretch of coast called Sable Cove, where the quiet hides something stranger and the dead don't always stay silent. Different world, same heart: ordinary lives, well-kept secrets, and a cup of tea never far away.
Stay in Touch
I'd love to share new releases, cozy extras, and the occasional note from the kitchen.
